Abstract
National Program of Population Food and Nutrition (2016-2025) is nationwide sectoral policy document aimed at the provision of healthy and safe foodstuffs to the population and reduction of nutrition-related diseases by improving the health education of the population on nutrition.
The objectives of the National Program of Population Food and Nutrition (2016-2025) shall be set forth as follows: (a) creation of healthy and safe food system; (b) improvement of the nutrition of mothers and children; (c) strengthening capacity of health sector to ensure nutrition and food security; (d) expand training and advocacy on nutrition among the population; and (e) strengthening national nutrition monitoring and evaluation.
The aforesaid objectives shall be achieved by the following measures: (a) improvement of capacity for fruits and vegetables growing as subsistence family farming; (b) allocation to fruit and vegetable growers of incentives, preferential loans and credits; (c) supply of equipment, infrastructure and extension services for fruit and vegetable growers; (d) reduction of the amount of salt, sugar, fat and trans fatty acids as food ingredients; (e) fortification of food products with vitamins and minerals, increase of names and types of fortified foods; (f) establishment of integrated food production and food supply systems, including public catering organizations; (g) improvement of hygiene and safety standards and requirements for food supply and delivery activities; and (h) improvement of food quality and food safety control in kindergartens, schools and children's organizations.
