Abstract
The purpose of this Regulation is to regulate relations regarding the remote monitoring of ships in order to ensure the safety of ships registered in the Mongolian ship registry, protect the marine environment, and implement the control of the flag owner. The procedure applies to vessels of 300 tons, as well as to drilling rigs, and to vessels with a gross tonnage of less than 300 tons and operating up to 40 miles (74 km) offshore. The Maritime Administration conducts the remote monitoring of ships in the international waters on the basis of signing a contract with a service provider organization recognized by the Maritime Organization. The ship must be equipped with positioning and communication equipment for remote control of the ship. The ship's positioning device will automatically transmit the following information: (a) ship name, type, ISS number; (b) ship's position, longitude and latitude; and (c) date and time of transmission of information.
