Abstract
Resolution No. 64 of 5 June 2024 approves Mongolia’s Regional Development Concept, dividing the country into Khangai, Western, Northern, Central, Eastern, Gobi and Ulaanbaatar regions. It promotes green production based on economic diversification, specialization and cooperation, regional integration and stable population settlement.
The Concept identifies the seven regions' provinces, local development centres and associated settlements, and sets common and region-specific objectives covering agriculture, industry, tourism, energy, transport and logistics, education, health, digital infrastructure, environmental protection and urban development. The measures include sustainable natural-resource use and restoration; designation of 21.8 million hectares as state-protected areas; the Billion Trees movement; and Gobi water-supply projects. The Concept supports science-based breeding of regionally adapted livestock, zoonotic-disease response centres, agricultural and food clusters, cooperatives, processing parks, and domestic and export-oriented healthy-food production.
