Abstract
State Policy on Food and Agriculture (2016-2025) is nationwide policy multi-sectoral document aimed at the development of food and agricultural production with a view of ensuring food security as the basis of the national security.
State Policy on Food and Agriculture (2016-2025) shall be based on the following principles: (a) ensuring equal access of the population to nutritious and safe foodstuffs; (b) capacity building of human resources; (c) promotion of research and development in agriculture and food processing sectors; (d) development of value chains and increase of competitiveness; (e) use and preservation of traditional knowledge in traditional pastoral animal husbandry sector; and (f) sustainable development of agricultural production based on advanced technologies adapted to climate change.
State Policy on Food and Agriculture (2016-2025) sets forth the following objectives: (a) animal husbandry: increase productivity and efficiency of livestock production; improvement of registration, assessment use and protection of livestock genetic resources; adapt animal production and animal reproduction to climate change; prevention and control of infectious animal diseases; and increase of animal feed production; (b) crop production: efficient use of agricultural land for crop production; protection of agricultural land against erosion; introduction of advanced irrigation; and increase vegetable growing in greenhouses; and (c) creation of strategic food stocks; increase meat and dairy products supply to internal market; establishment of registration and information system related to transportation of agricultural commodities; enforcement of food safety with a view of preventing toxicity, poisoning and infection by foodstuffs; and to improve nutritional values and food quality control in public catering facilities.
