Abstract
These Regulations provide for the establishment of a system of notification and information for imports from and exports to third countries of certain chemicals which are banned or severely restricted on account of their effects on human health and the environment. The Regulations also provide for the application of international notification and the Prior Informed Consent ( PIC ) procedure as established by the united Nations Environment Programme and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The purpose of these Regulations is also to ensure that the provisions of the regulations on the classification, packaging and labelling of substances dangerous to man or the environment placed on the market in Malta shall also apply to such substances when they are exported from Malta to third countries.
