Abstract
The Minister of Home Affairs an the Environment has made, by virtue of the powers conferred by article 9 of the Environment Protection Act, the present regulations for the following purposes: (a) to establish long-term objectives, target values, an alert threshold as well as an information threshold for concentrations of ozone in ambient air in Malta; (b) to ensure that common methods and criteria are applied in the assessment of concentrations of ozone and ozone precursors in ambient air; (c) to ensure that reliable information is obtained on ambient levels of ozone and that such information is made available to the public. The target values for 2010 are those indicated in Section II of Schedule I. Section III of the same Schedule sets out the above-mentioned long-term objectives. Regulation 8 concerns transboundary pollution. Regulations 10 and 11 concern offences and penalties, without any prejudice to the application of the Criminal Code as per regulation 12 hereto.
