Abstract
These Regulations provides rules for the importation and placing on the market of basmatic rice, i.e. the variety of long-grain or extra long-grain rice, specified in Mauritius Standard 177:2011, that is grown exclusively in specific areas of India and Pakistan. The rice imported shall be conform the specified standard and shall be covered by a valid certificate of authenticity issued by an authority of the country of origin as specified in the Schedule to these Regulations. These Regulations specify the content of certificate of authenticity. Every local packer shall hold a Mauritius licence issued under section 20 of the Mauritius Standards Bureau Act. No possession, sell, display, offer for sale, distribute or deliver basmati rice which does not conform the specified standard and shall not sell basmati rice that is not labelled in accordance with these Regulations.
