Consumer Protection (Control on Repacking and Resale of Subsidised Goods) Regulations, Government Notice no. 98 of 2026.

These Regulations, made by the Minister under section 35 of the Consumer Protection (Price and Supplies Control) Act, apply to the purchase, possession, storage and distribution, of subsidised goods for resale. According to the Regulations, subsidised goods include: flour including whole wheat flour; rice (excluding luxury rice); liquefied petroleum gas for domestic consumption. The Regulations prevent anyone from repackaging, relabelling or otherwise altering the original packaging of subsidised goods for the purpose of resale, without specific authorisation. According to the Regulations repackaged, relabelled or altered subsidised goods found in any trade premises are considered unlawful, unless proven otherwise. The Regulations, in order to ensure compliance with their provisions, empower the authorised officers to enter and inspect, at any reasonable time, any trade premises where subsidised goods are stored or sold; and require the production of any invoice, record or document relating to the subsidised goods; and seize any subsidised goods or document reasonably believed to be connected with an offence under these Regulations.
