Abstract
This Regulation prescribes the national environmental standards in relation to effluent limitation for use in irrigation (in its Schedule). “Effluent” means water sullied or contaminated by any matter, in solution or suspension and derived from the use of the water in connection with domestic, industrial or other activities. The standards shall not apply to any effluent, which is produced from any sugar manufacturing processes. The standards shall be the maximum limits set out in the fourth column of the Schedule in respect of the corresponding parameter set out in the second column. A person treating effluent for use in irrigation shall ensure that the quality of the treated effluent complies with the standards set out in the Schedule.
