Abstract
The Mauritius Sugar Authority is established under section 3. The Authority shall be a body corporate and shall be administered by a Board of Directors. An Advisory Council shall assist the Board in the discharge of its functions. The Authority shall generally promote the development of the sugar industry and shall, in particular, formulate policies and develop national integrated planning with respect to the sugar industry and be involved in the coordination of research and the review of economic and financial performance of the industry (sects. 4 and 13). Powers of the Authority are outlined in section 14. The Authority may fix a the date of commencement for milling activities each year (sect. 15). The Authority may set up special funds such as a Consolidated Investment Fund, an Employees' Investment Fund and an Equipment Modernization Fund (sect. 16). The Authority shall establish a General Fund, pursuant to section 21, in which all money received by the Authority shall be paid. (33 sections completed by 1 Schedule).
