Abstract
The Act provides for the establishment of the Mauritius Meat Authority, regulates matters with respect to the Authority and regulates the licencing in relation to meat. Meat includes game meat. The Board shall be a body corporate which shall, inter alia, establish and manage abbatoirs, purchase and import livestock for slaughter, market meat, and license to persons and premises in connection with the slaughter of animals for meat, and the preparation, processing, packing and marketing of meat. The Authority may also make regulations as it thinks fit for the purposes of this Act. (21 sections)
