Abstract
These Regulations, made by the Minister under section 228 of the Merchant Shipping Act, apply to a ship’s master, officers and crew employed on seagoing ships registered in Mauritius and on other ships when in Mauritian waters, and concern certification of competency, proficiency for seagoing services. Matters covered by these Regulations include: recognition and revalidation of certificates; responsibilities of companies for services on their ships, including services provided during an emergency situation and in performing functions vital to the safety, security and to the prevention or mitigation of pollution; minimum requirements for certification of various services; level of standards.
