Abstract
This Energy Policy provides for improving energy efficiency and renewable energy use in the country, in order to take care of the environmental dimension linked to the energy production and consumption, and to increase the economic growth of the country. The Policy therefore focuses on the following key objectives: environmental considerations and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; stimulating investment in renewable energy, in order to improve productivity and job creation; limiting the importation of fossil fuels; attracting foreign investment for the development of the energy sector. The target of the Policy is to achieve self-sufficiency in terms of energy supply, through a progressive increase in the use of the following renewable energy sources: biofuels, used in particular for transportation services, hydropower, biomass consisting of bagasse, wind energy, solar energy, solid waste.
