Abstract
The Act establishes a Tea Board and a Tea Fund operated by the Board. The Tea Board shall be a body corporate (sects. 3 and 6). The Board shall promote and regulate the tea industry and arbitrate disputes between persons engaged in the tea industry (sect. 5). The Minister may, after consultation with the Board, raise a levy on locally produced tea or imported tea to be credited to the Fund (sect. 8). Section 9 provides for arbitration. Section 11 provides for compulsory contracting between planters or cooperatives of planters and manufacturers. The remaining provisions deal with enforcement and prescribe offences.
