The 52 sections are divided into 5 Parts: The Tobacco Board (I); Control of production (II); Marketing provisions (III); Warehouses and bonded warehouses (IV); Miscellaneous (V).
The control of the production and sale of leaf tobacco in Mauritius is vested in the Board (sect. 3). Planting of tobacco requires certificates issued by the Board (sect. 12). The Board shall also annually determine the quantity of leaf tobacco required (sect. 17). Producers shall register with the Board (sect. 13). Other provisions of Part II deal with the allotment of basic and annual quotas (sects. 16 and 17), reporting by producers on storage facilities for tobacco (sect. 20), and with miscellaneous matters such as the transfer of certificates, sale and delivery of tobacco leaf, and possession of green and leaf tobacco. The Board may establish warehouses where all leaf tobacco shall be received from producers (sect. 26). Section 27 provides for the purchase of leaf tobacco by the Board.
