Fisheries-related Activities Licensing Regulations (No. 2023/R-82).

These Regulations are made under the powers conferred by section 33 of the Fisheries Act of the Maldives (No. 14/2019). The purpose of this Regulation is to prescribe the procedures for issuing permits or licenses for fisheries-related activities. The scope of application of these regulations and the activities which require a licence are mentioned. Further, provisions relating to the procedure for obtaining a licence, the conditions, term and fees for the licence are also laid down. The regulations require record keeping of certain licensed activities. Fisheries Observers and Rangers must be placed on licensed vessel if required by the Ministry and electronic monitoring system must be installed. The action to be taken for violation of the regulations or the conditions of the licence are provided.
