Abstract
The Maldives Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP) outlines how the country’s health sector will respond to climate change threats, such as the rise of communicable and non-communicable diseases, water- and heat‑related illnesses, and mental health stresses, by strengthening health infrastructure, waste management, and emergency preparedness. It emphasizes cross-sectoral collaboration, research, advocacy, and sustainable financing, aligning with international guidance documents. The plan also sets out a robust monitoring and evaluation framework, building on vulnerabilities identified in water resources, air quality, food security, and the built environment, in order to protect public health amid the Maldives’ acute exposure to climate risks.
