Abstract
This law, made of seventeen sections, sets the terms under which a foreign government or a foreign national or a body incorporated outside the Republic of Maldives may invest in the Republic of Maldives. The law regulates the nature of the allowed investments and requires that they are regulated by agreements setting out the terms and conditions and the manner of implementation of the investment scheme and programme. The investments must be done privileging the use of local raw materials, the employment of local people and the destination of a percentage of the production to the local market.
