Abstract
This Regulation provides for the quarantine of plants, parts of plants, plant products, timber and pests imported into or exported from the Maldives in order to prevent spreading of diseases affecting plants.
The Regulation specifies how plants, parts of plants, timber, timber pallets used for packing goods, etc. must be imported or exported and requires that they must possess a phytosanitary certificate.
The Regulation further prohibits the import of insects, micro-organisms and bacteria except in cases as specified in the text and the import of specific plants and parts of plants.
In addition, the Regulation provides for: items kept for quarantine; inspection measures; powers and duties of the Plant and Animal Quarantine Unit; offences; etc.
