Abstract
These Regulations are made under the powers conferred by the Fisheries Act of the Maldives (No. 14/2019). They provide for planning and management of Reef Fishery in Maldives. An advisory committee is established to advise the Ministry on implementation of the Reef Fishery Management Plan. The requirements of licence for reef fishery, the activities for which licence must be obtained, the procedure for obtaining such licence and the conditions and term of licence are laid down. Further, rules relating to fishing gear, export procedures and catch certificates are provided. The licenced fishing vessels are required to share the fish reports and logbook information to the Ministry and provisions for Observers on fishing vessels is also made. The offences and penalties for offences committed are laid down.
