Abstract
These Regulations, made under provisions of articles 3 and 4 of Act No. 4/93 (Environmental Protection and Conservation Act), provide for increasing the planting of trees and the greenery in the country, and for defining procedures for cutting, digging and moving trees. The Regulations therefore aim at: protecting trees and plants of the country; minimising the adverse impacts on the vegetation, the environment, and the wildlife. The Regulations cover the following matters: maintenance of a register of trees in the villages; measures for reducing logging and cutting of trees belonging to the following categories: trees in the coastal vegetation belt, protected trees, endangered trees and vegetation; exceptions and special permission to cut down, move or dig trees; cutting down trees for using them as fuelwood; penalties and offences.
