Abstract
These Regulations, made under provisions of Act no. 8/2020 (Water and Sewerage Act), and of Act no. 26/2020 (Utility Regulatory Authority Act), provide for encouraging the sustainable use of water resources, and for establishing related Policies to ensure full benefits to the users of water resources. The Regulations concern: protection of groundwater layer; preparation of a water resource conservation and management Plan by each village Authority; restriction on water abstraction for commercial and industrial purposes; authorisation to use, and methods and procedures for using water from protected water resources in the event of disasters; drainage systems for rainwater established in rural areas; implementation of land reclamation projects; prohibition to discharge sewage or wastewater, in order to prevent contamination of aquifers; contamination of water due to oil and chemicals used in human activities; groundwater pollution due to agricultural activities and prevention measures; prevention of water pollution from medical hazardous waste and from waste management centres; incentives for encouraging the construction of wells for public and agricultural purposes.
