Abstract
The Act under Part II establishes an office to be called the Trademarks Office; a Registrar of Trademarks shall be appointed and shall be responsible for registration of trademarks and the day to day management of the Trademarks Office. Part III provides for application for registration of a trademark, grounds for refusal, advertisement of an application, opposition to an application, registration, rights conferred by registration, infringement of a trademark, among others. Part IV concerns rectification and correction of the Register and removal or variation of registration for breach of conditions. Part V infringement of a trademark and unfair competition. Part VI concerns protection of well known marks, it indicates factors for determining well known marks, system of registration of collective marks and certification marks. Part VII concerns geographic indication.
