Abstract
The present Act makes provision for the eradication of agricultural pests and noxious plants and for the control and prevention of plant diseases. To these ends, the Act establishes all the powers of the Directors of Agriculture of the different States of Malaysia and of the Inspecting Officers, as regards the implementation of the provisions of the Act. With a view to ensure the protection of the plants and the spreading of plant diseases, it states the power of the Ministers to order the destruction or treatment of plants and pests or the appropriate treatment of the land and the obligations of the owner or occupier of the land in case of detection of a disease.

The Agricultural Pests and Noxious Plants Ordinance of 1953, the Sabah Agricultural Pests Ordinance and the Sarawak Agricultural Pests Ordinance are repealed, provided the conditions established in article 24 are met.
