Abstract
These Regulations provide for the management of radioactive waste.
The Regulations stipulate that a licence must be obtained to dispose of radioactive waste. Licensees shall be responsible for the safe management of radioactive waste and ensure that the generation of radioactive waste and its impact to the environment is as minimum as possible.
The Regulations provide for: appointment of radioactive waste management officers whose responsibilities are set out in the text; reuse and recycle of radioactive waste; discharge limits which must comply with clearance levels; transport and storage of radioactive waste; quality assurance programmes; physical protection and safety of radioactive waste; emergency plans and procedures; etc.
