Abstract
This Act provides for the establishment of the Malaysian Food Analysts Council and defines its internal organization. Functions and powers of the Council include: to determine and regulate the professional conduct and ethics of food analysts; to determine the scale of fees to be charged by registered food analysts for services rendered; and to issue guidelines to specify the procedures and test methods of food analysis.
The Act sets out procedures to be registered as a food analyst. The Registrar shall be the Senior Director of Food Safety and Quality Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia.
The Council shall have disciplinary authority over registered food analysts and shall establish a Disciplinary Committee to hold an inquiry on any disciplinary matter.
The Act further provides for offences and penalties, for appointment and powers of authorized officers, etc.
