Abstract
This National Green Technology Policy is a comprehensive document aimed at making Green Technology a driver to accelerate the national economy and promote sustainable development. It plays a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future, extending beyond achieving energy independence and addressing climate change, while enabling rapid advancement and significantly minimizing environmental harm. This technology facilitates the growth of a knowledge society, encouraging the adoption of a more sustainable and improved way of life. By fostering the development and application of products, equipment, and systems that conserve natural resources and reduce the negative impact of human activities, Green Technology lays the groundwork for a healthier planet. The document is built on four pillars (1) Energy: seek to attain energy independence and promote efficient utilization; (2) Environment: conserve and minimize the impact on the environment; (3) Economy: enhance the national economic development through the use of technology; (4) Social: improve the quality of life for all.
The National Green Technology Policy embodies elements of economic, environment and social policies, as reflected in the 5 objectives as follows (1) minimize growth of energy consumption while enhancing economic development; (2) facilitate the growth of the Green Technology industry and enhance its contribution to the national economy; (3) increase national capability and capacity for innovation in Green Technology development and enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness in Green Technology in the global arena; (4) ensure sustainable development and conserve the environment for future generations; (5) enhance public education and awareness on Green Technology and encourage its widespread use. The objectives will be achieved through the implementation of the following Strategic Thrusts (i) strengthening the institutional frameworks; (ii) providing conducive environment for Green Technology development; (iii) intensifying human capital development in Green Technology; (iv) intensifying Green Technology research and innovations; (v) promotion andP public awareness.
