Abstract
The Act provides for the establishment of port authorities in respect of every port specified in the first Schedule. The authority shall operate and maintain the port in respect of which it is established and therefore shall exercise the powers specified in article 3.
The Minister may appoint for any port a Port Consultative Committee for the purpose of advising the authority on the following matters: (a) alteration in the charges prescribed by the authority; (b) expansion or development of the port; (c) any other matter upon which a consultation is required.
Further provisions concern the finances of the authority, the appointment of officers and servants, the imposition and recovery of charges by the authority, the control of the port as well as wharves and premises, and offences, damages, penalties and procedures. Part VII makes provision for the establishment of new ports.
