Abstract
These Regulations shall apply to the importation from the United States of America and Canada into Malaysia of beef destined to human consumption. Animals must originate in an area or farm certified to be free from Anthrax and Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy. Slaughter must be carried out at approved abattoirs. Regulation 3 refers to the procedures to be adopted at the mentioned abattoirs, relating to ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections, treatment of carcasses (processing, packaging and storage). The meat cannot contain any preservative, colouring matters or foreign substances. Regulation 4 deals with transport of meat. Consignments shall be accompanied by a meat inspection certificate. All meat must be labelled by indicating establishment number of abattoir and packing plant, lot number, date of production and type of slaughter.
