Abstract
These Regulations, consisting of 9 articles, establish that (i) a permit is required for conducting commercial captive breeding activities, with a special permit needed if totally protected wildlife are involved; (ii) fees must be paid to obtain these permits; (iii) commercial breeders must ensure that wildlife is housed in appropriately sized, comfortable, and non-overcrowded enclosures; (iv) breeders are required to maintain records on-site regarding the acquisition of breeding stock, births, deaths, sales, and health care of the wildlife; (v) breeders must keep the wildlife in good health under the supervision of a veterinary surgeon; (vi) parent stock may only be sold if the breeder plans to terminate the breeding activity or if the parent stock is no longer productive; and (vii) penalties are imposed for violations.
