Abstract
These Regulations, consisting of 7 articles, outline procedures for the disposal of wildlife by holders of a licence, permit, or special permit. Key provisions include (i) wildlife may be surrendered to the licensing officer or euthanized under veterinary supervision; (ii) upon the death of most wildlife (excluding amphibians, insects, and arachnids), a veterinary surgeon must be notified to determine if a post-mortem is necessary, with findings reported to the licensing officer; (iii) if the wildlife dies from a non-infectious disease, it may be buried or incinerated with approval; (iv) if the death is due to an infectious disease, incineration or another method approved by veterinary authorities is required, with disposal costs borne by the licence holder; and (v) deaths caused by infectious diseases must be reported to the veterinary authority. Penalties for non-compliance include fines or imprisonment, depending on the violation.
