Abstract
These Regulations comprising 6 articles amend the original Regulations including the following (i) a revised definition of "zoo," specifying it as a facility holding 50 or more wildlife species with a total of 100 or more animals for conservation, education, research, or recreation, and open to the public; (ii) a new requirement for a permit to operate a zoo, with a special permit needed for using totally protected wildlife; (iii) an update requiring zoos to either employ a full-time veterinary surgeon or appoint one as a consultant; (iv) a modification allowing the Director General to require certain actions from zoo operators; (v) a modification of the Schedule 4 concerning enclosure sizes.
