Abstract
This Decree approves the Regulation that establishes the Legal Regime for the National Maritime Zone use (RJUEM). This Regulation, consisting of 92 articles divided into seven Chapters, establishes the mechanisms for the planning and management of the National Maritime Zone, providing norms regarding: a) preparation, approval, amendment, revision and suspension of maritime zone planning instruments; b) rules applicable to titles of private use of maritime zone, building permits along the coastal areas and on the outline of islands, bays and estuaries measured from the maximum tide-line up to 100 meters inland; c) taxation associated with private use of maritime zone; d) technical monitoring and evaluation of maritime zone planning. This Regulation shall apply to the Maritime Zones and to all activities and uses subject to private ownership, including areas under the jurisdiction of port entities. This Regulation shall not apply to activities which, by reason of their nature and, in view of their purpose, aim solely at defending the national sovereignty or integrity of the territory of the Republic of Mozambique.
