Abstract
This Decree approves the Regulation for the Hygiene and Sanitary Controls for Fisheries Food Products. The Regulation, consisting of 70 articles divided into six Chapters and one Annex, specifies the hygiene and sanitary requirements to be satisfied by the above mentioned food products to put them on the market. In particular, it establishes hygienic and quality management requirements related to the activities of handling and processing, transformation, distribution and trade, sanitary requirements for monitoring and certifying the health of aquatic organisms, rules for carrying out official controls and other official activities throughout the production chain, including distribution and trade requirements, consumer and public health protection, animal health and welfare protection and the environment, defining the powers of the Competent Authority and setting the sanctioning regime. The Regulation is divided as follows: General provisions and objective of the Regulation (Chap. I); Competent Authority (Chap. II); Charges for official controls and other official activities (Chap. III); Hygienic-sanitary rules (Chap. IV); Official controls and other official activities (Chap. V); Inspection, Offences and Sanitary Sanctions (Chap. VI).
