Ministerial Decision No. 160/2014 approving the Management Plan for the Fisheries in the Cahora Bassa Water Dam for the period 2014-2018.

This Ministerial Decision approves the Management Plan for the Fisheries in the Cahora Bassa Water Dam for the period 2014-2018. This Management Plan, consisting of seven Sections and 3 Tables and 1 Annex, establishes requirements to be satisfied in order to perform Fishery within the Cahora Bassa Water Dam for the above mentioned period. It focuses on the contribution of inland fisheries to the national economy, on the rationale and objectives for the management plan, on the key guiding policies to the management Plan, on the overview of the shrimp fisheries within this fishing area, on the management and operational objectives of the Management Plan, on the management measures and performance indicators and the institutional arrangements for its implementation and monitoring. The objectives of the Management Plan are to ensure sustainable exploitation of fisheries resources and potentialities of this water dam, contributing to food security and improved livelihoods of local fishing communities and the country in general, through the implementation of management tools and monitoring systems, control and surveillance (MCS).
