Resolution No. 18/2021 approving the Statute of the Regional Administration of Águas do Sul, Public Institution (ARA-Sul, IP).

This Resolution approves the Statute of the Regional Administration of Águas do Sul (ARA-Sul, IP). The ARA-Sul, IP, is a public authority aimed at the operational management of water resources and provision of category A services, endowed with legal personality. Geographical limits of ARA-Sul, IP territory extend from the Southern Border to the Save River basin (inclusive), with headquarters in Maputo Province. ARA-Sul, IP, is competent for Water Basin Management Divisions, Project Offices and other forms of representation in the area under its jurisdiction. The attributions of ARA-Sul, IP are: Management of hydrographic basins, with a focus on land occupation plans and protection zones for the water domain; Preparation of zoning maps and technical annexes in close coordination with the environmental sector, in the territorial planning component, in order to guarantee the standardization of land registration; Management and inspection of partial and total protection areas on the banks of rivers, lakes, reservoirs and lakes and authorization of projects that can be developed in these areas without prejudice to the public interest; Inventory of water resources and water needs to update the National Water Resources Register; Collection, processing, analysis and storage and systematic dissemination of hydro-climatological information; Update of the National Water Resources Information System; Issuance of Licenses and Concessions for the use and use of raw water, authorizations for effluent discharges; Implementation of measures to protect water resources; Definition and implementation of structural measures aimed at defense against floods and floods and drought mitigation; Approval and inspection of hydraulic works, etc.
