Resolution No. 30/2020 approving the Statute of the National Institution for Fish Inspection, IP.

This Resolution approves the Statute of the National Institution for Fish Inspection, IP. The Statute, consisting of 28 articles divided into five Chapters, establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Institution, entitled for: a) Sanitary licensing of production units and processing operators, handling of fish products and by-products; b) Health certification of fish products; c) Conducting research programmes and providing services; d) Carrying out health control and inspection actions. The Institution is responsible for: a) Proposing strategies for hygienic-sanitary quality of fish products and aquatic animal feeding; b) Promote and support the integration of artisanal fisheries production in the quality assurance systems of fisheries products; c) Propose regulatory principles and standards for health licensing, certification and laboratory activities; d) Propose regulatory principles and standards for the control and monitoring activities of the health of aquatic organisms, with Competent Veterinary Authority; e) Carry out health licensing and inspection of operators and production units processing fish products and aquatic animal feeding; f) Carry out inspection on health certification; i) Conduct research on hazards and risks in aquatic organisms; etc.
