Resolution No. 33/2020 approving the Mangrove Management Strategy 2020-2024.

This Resolution approves the Mangrove Management Strategy 2020-2024. This Strategy defines the coordination mechanisms for mangrove management at different levels of the State's territorial organization in order to ensure its preservation. This Strategy consists of a set of changing actions to be undertaken, in a coordinated and integrated manner, at various levels, based on values and principles to achieve the global goal. The Strategy identifies priorities to be considered and national qualitative targets to be achieved in relation to mangrove management in Mozambique, in an effective and inclusive action by all stakeholders in the mangrove ecosystem, towards its sustainable use. This Strategy is based on the values and principles of environmental conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, as described below: Sustainability: rational use of mangrove and associated resources in the constant balance between biodiversity conservation and the country's economic and social development needs; Equity: sustainable mangrove management with fair distribution of the benefits from this resource, to contribute to the well-being of communities, overcome inequalities in terms of gender, age and socioeconomic groups and promote equal opportunities for all stakeholders; Participation: the mangrove management system promotes the integration and coordination of actions by all stakeholders.
