Abstract
This Act amends Schedule 3 of the Controlled Wildlife Products and Trade Act, 2008 to ensure that it reflects the most recent CITES Appendices, as required by section 11 of the Act. The amendments do not introduce any substantive changes to the explanatory provisions of the Schedule, including the rules on taxonomic references, abbreviations, the coverage of parts and derivatives, or the definitions of terms such as extract, powder, and woodchips. Instead, the amendments primarily update the lists of protected species and the related annotations to align Namibia's legislation with the latest decisions adopted by the CITES Conference of the Parties. These updates include the addition of newly listed taxa (such as certain reptiles, sharks and rays, timber species, amphibians and plants), as well as the amendment or removal of existing listings where their status under CITES has changed.
