Abstract
This Act makes provision for the establishment of the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia. The Fund shall finance activities and projects aimed at promoting: (a) the sustainable use and management of environmental and natural resources; (b) the maintenance of the natural resource base and ecological processes; (c) the maintenance of biological diversity and ecosystems for the benefit of all Namibians; and (d) economic improvements in the use of natural resources for sustainable rural and urban development. It shall be managed by a Board and shall consist of, among other things, moneys collected in respect of levies imposed under this Act. The Minister may make Regulations relating to the determination and imposition of levies payable by, amongst others, persons engaged in any activities on environmental and natural resources management or wildlife, forestry, wild plants or other natural resources for commercial purposes.
