Namibia Vision 2030 - Policy Framework for Long-Term National Development.

Namibia Vision 2030 is a policy with a multi-sectoral approach. The overall objective is to guarantee to everyone access to good education for their children, good and accessible health care, a clean and productive environment, an efficient and profitable economy that supports full and rewarding employment, low levels of crime, a just and tolerant society and meaningful transparent governance. The eight thematic reports which feed into this long-term vision are: 1) Inequality and Social Welfare; 2) Peace and Political Stability; 3) Human Resources Development and Institutional Capacity Building; 4) Macroeconomic Issues; 5) Population, Health and Development; 6) Namibia’s Natural Resources Sector; 7) Knowledge, Information and Technology; 8) Factors of the External Environment.
The policy aims at eliminating hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition. Among the specific objectives to be achieved by 2030, the document envisages ensuring a healthy, food-secured and breastfeeding nation, in which all preventable, infectious and parasitic diseases are under secure control, and in which people enjoy a high standard of living, with access to quality education, health and other vital services, in an atmosphere of sustainable population growth and development. The Vision promotes the creation of access to abundant, hygienic and healthy food, based on a policy of food security.
The Vision also aims at making agriculture more productive and sustainable. The aim is to ensure the development of Namibia’s natural capital and its sustainable utilization, for the benefit of the country’s social, economic and ecological well-being.
Furthermore, the instrument seeks to reduce rural poverty. To this end, it promotes the following actions and interventions: development of the rural population through diversification of economic activities; development of rural transport infrastructure and communication; providing adequate social services (quality schools, health facilities, and social support); creating employment opportunities in rural areas.
