Ombudsman Act, 1990 (No. 7 of 1990).

This Act makes provision for the appointment of the Ombudsman by the President pursuant to Article 90 of the Constitution and defines the functions and powers of the office. The Ombudsman may carry out investigations in accordance with this Act. Public bodies may refer instances or matters to the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman shall investigate, among other things, the over-utilization of living natural resources, the irrational exploitation of non-renewable resources, the degradation and destruction of ecosystems and failure to protect the beauty and character of Namibia.
