Abstract
These Regulations implement provisions of the Traditional Authorities Act, 2000 with respect to the approval to designate a chief or head of a traditional community, notification of appointment of senior traditional councilors, traditional councilors and secretary to the Minister, and the management of Community Trust Funds. Fund as contemplated in section 18(3) of the Act, that traditional authority shall for the purpose of managing and controlling the affairs of the Fund establish a Board of Trustees. Trustees shall be persons that have the requirements as set out by these Regulations.
The traditional authority shall supervise and ensure the observance of customary law by the traditional community and a member of the authority shall have law enforcement powers and among other things, ensure that a member of the community shall use natural resources in an (environmentally) sustainable manner.
