Abstract
These Regulations, deemed to be made under section 23 of the Plant Quarantine Act of 2008, require any owner or occupier of land whereon flying locusts have appeared, or whereon flying locusts have deposited eggs, or another insect called "voetganger" has appeared, to proceed with the destroying of such locusts, eggs or voetgangers. This shall be done in addition to any steps which the Administrator-General takes or prescribes. Insecticide and spraying apparatus may be made available to an owner or occupier.

The Regulations relating to the Destroying of Locusts were originally made in terms of section 33(1) of the Agricultural Pests Act 3 of 1973, which was repealed by the Plant Quarantine Act 7 of 2008. Pursuant to section 23(2) of the Plant Quarantine Act 7 of 2008, the Regulations relating to the Destroying of Locusts are deemed to have been made under that Act.
