Act No. 2 amending the Act on the Protection of the Marine Environment.
Type of law
Legislation
Abstract
This Act (Landstingsforordning in Danish) amends the 1994 Marine Environment Protection Act to update definitions and regulatory powers. It introduces a legal definition of “fish,” encompassing all species of fish, crustaceans, molluscs, echinoderms, tunicates, and sea snails, and authorizes the government (Landsstyret) to set rules governing the discharge of fresh fish and fish parts from processing and production vessels. The amendment also removes certain provisions on oil record-keeping, chemical cargo classification, and inspection procedures, transferring related responsibilities to Greenland’s Act on Maritime Safety and the Mineral Resources Act. It also modernizes enforcement provisions on searches and investigations.
