Abstract
This Act establishes the framework for financial support to professional farming in Greenland through loans and direct subsidies. Its aim is to strengthen farm economics, ensure long-term sustainable production, and increase self-sufficiency. Support can be granted for buildings, machinery, livestock, energy systems, land improvement, generational transfers, and training, among others. The law defines minimum requirements for farms to qualify as “commercial,” though exemptions may apply. Applicants must provide documentation of qualifications, budgets, accounts, and permits, and demonstrate economic and technical viability. The government may set conditions, including reporting duties and participation in breeding programs. Misuse or failure to disclose relevant changes can lead to repayment obligations.
