Recommendation of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission No. 40 “On measures to develop selection and seed production of agricultural plants in the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.”

Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission recommends to interested Member States from the date of publication of this Recommendation on the official website of the Eurasian Economic Union when implementing policies in the fields of selection and seed production of agricultural plants applying measures according to the list in the Appendix. Measures in the field of development of agricultural plant breeding: (a) intensification of interaction between leading breeding centers and organizations of Member States in order to create new highly productive varieties of agricultural plants; (b) maintenance and use of collections of plant genetic resources; (c) modernization of the material and technical base for the selection of agricultural crops; and (d) increasing the investment attractiveness of agricultural plant selection, including through the development of public-private partnerships with the consideration of world experience. Measures for the development of seed production of agricultural plants in Member States: (a) development of industrial seed production for all types of agricultural crops in order to provide agricultural producers with high-quality seeds of varieties included in national registers of varieties approved (authorized, recommended) for use in the regions of Member States (released varieties); (b) development of innovative technologies for seed production of agricultural plants; and (c) development of seed factories (including seed cleaning and corn calibration plants, warehouses for storing original, elite seeds equipped with cooling systems for long-term seed storage).
