Regulation No. 2 on Scallop Fishing.

This Regulation of the Government of Greenland sets rules for commercial scallop (Chlamys islandica) fishing within Greenland’s fishing territory. It establishes annual quotas for six management areas, licensing requirements, and quota allocation procedures that prioritize existing companies while restricting new entrants unless economic sustainability can be ensured. Licensed vessels, regardless of size, are allowed to fish both nearshore and offshore. The regulation also empowers the fisheries minister to close or reopen areas if toxins are detected in scallops, in line with food safety laws. Violations can result in fines, confiscation, or corporate criminal liability.
