Resolution on Conservation of Tuna in the Eastern Pacific Ocean During 2017 (C-17-01).

This Resolution of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC), taking into account the best scientific information available, reflected in the IATTC staff’s recommendations and the precautionary approach and recognizing the importance of conservation measures taken by the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) for the tuna stocks, applies in the Convention Area the conservation and management measures for yellowfin and bigeye tuna as specicifies and requires monitoring the fishing activities of the respective CPC’s flag vessels relative to this commitment. Measures concern closure periods, total annual catch limit, closure areas, retaining on board of catch. The IATTC shall continue efforts to promote compatibility between the conservation and management measures adopted by the IATTC and WCPFC.
