Abstract
This Law provides for the protection, management and regulation of fresh water resources in Jersey and for the protection of (habitats of) fauna and flora that are dependent on inland waters. The Law provides for control on the abstraction and impounding of water and requires a licence to be obtained for such activities. The Law also concerns protection of water resources in case of emergencies such as drought.
The Minister for Planning and Environment is appointed as the "regulator" for purposes of this Law. The Minister shall be responsible for the issue of licences and may, in case of water deficiency, issue a Drought Order.
